Confession Time

I'm now a 50-something on-again off-again empty nester, so not technically not a "girl" anymore. (Just to be clear, I am still 100% female.) These days my natural hair color is more grey than blond, but I'm told people pay for this look. I like it, so I'm good with it. And, although I grew up in (not on) Mars, I now live in (not on) Jupiter. But I've been calling myself a blond Polish girl from Mars for so many years that I'm sticking with it.

Hi. My name is Amy.

In my heart I always knew I was a writer. When my college plan to specialize in Japanese-American advertising didn't pan out, I set the writing aside. I would dabble now and then. But the last couple years it's been gnawing at me. I get ideas and they just won't go away. It's like an annoying little sister vying for your attention (not that my little sisters were EVER annoying). So I finally gave in. And a blog is born. I feel like I am at a 12-step program standing in front of my peers for the first time accepting what I've always known: Hi my name is Amy. And I'm a writer. 

Let the Adventures Begin!

The real life adventures part? That's due to the grand upheaval in my life. Call it a midlife crisis, if you like. All I know is that I've made big changes in my business and my relationships. I'm still not sure they were wise decisions, but they were necessary. Doing what I felt I should do for so many years was sucking the life out of me. Something had to give. I was tired of being should on. 😲 So I doused myself in Rain-X and now that should slides right off! 

Purpose & Promise

While this blog will initially chronicle my travels in Poland so family and friends can keep tabs on me, it will expand to other escapades as they develop. All of them will be geared to bring you a smile, a memory and likely an occasional face palm.

These posts are meant to brighten your day. By sharing my adventures (or mis-adventures as the case may be) I hope to spread smiles. They'll be:

• Short and sweet, like the half a cup of coffee you'll enjoy while reading
• Fun and entertaining with pithy prose and interesting images
• Uplifting and thought-provoking with songs that may cause you to sing out loud or get up and boogie. If you choose the latter, PLEASE send me the video! 😆
